I feel the Mitsubishi 3DC-1000 3D glasses are lighter than any of the others I have tried (Sony, Samsung, Panasonic). Maybe because the batteries in these glasses are not rechargeable. They are not comfortable, but not as uncomfortable as the others. They do not dig into my ears as others have either. These glasses do leave marks on my nose, but are not painful as they look. They do fit comfortably over conventional glasses.

Now, this kit comes with 2 pairs of glasses, the 3D emitter, and a Disney sampler Blu-ray. The emitter is a box that plugs into a special port on your Mitsubishi TV and controls the lens swapping of your 3D glasses. This emitter is built into the Samsung 3D TV’s, but for some reason it’s NOT built into the Mitsubishi’s. Probably to keep the cost low for people who want these TV’s but don’t care about 3D. The box is easy to hook up. It hooks into the back of your TV and then it must also be plugged into a wall outlet. It comes with a remote, but i just leave mine on at all times. I don’t think it will overheat. There’s a red light on the unit which your glasses must be able to see. I’ve run into no incidents of the glasses not working, even when swapping them between people and moving around the room. Also, my rechargable Samsung 3D glasses work on it, too, so that’s a bonus. The quality is the same. (the Mitsubishi glasses in this box are not rechargable. They use the kind of batteries you find in a watch).

The Disney sampler disc is filled with trailers for 3D Blu rays from Disney, such as A Christmas Carol and Alice in Wonderland. There’s not a lot of content on the disc, but Disney is doing a good job with their 3D, so it’s a good showcase for your 3D TV.

For some reason these glasses do not give me headache or vertigo like others have in stores. I am not sure if it is due to the more comfortable glasses or the tv.

This holiday season the Mitsubishi set is the only one that will play well with Mitsubishi sets.

So, while i love my Laservue set, if i had to compare with other manufacturer’s, Mitsubishi’s set is over priced and provides lower value for what you get. Yes you get a 3d Adapter and 2 glasses, but… you don’t get any included movies. Also, price value is low when compared to Panasonic’s or other brand’s sets which… are on sale during the holidays and… have 2 real movies included. M’s set only includes some Disney movie trailers. which pales to Avatar or Coraline and Ice Age that others offer.

Also, these seem to be better designed than the flimsy Samsung or Panasonic ones.
They come with a sturdy plastic carrying/storage case.

If you’re looking for the cream of the 3D crop, check out IMAX Under the Sea, A christmas Carol, and IMAX Space Station. I’ve found those to be the absolute best 3D Blu Rays you can get. Alice in Wonderland is ok, but it’s a bit unbalanced and some of the CG + live action stuff was not composited very well. Films like Monster House and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs don’t look great. When it comes to 3D, live action is always the best, because of the textures. When you have textures which are a lot of solid colors (as you get with animated films), you end up with ghosting…Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, which is very cartoonish, has a TON of ghosting. A Christmas Carol, which was made to look photorealistic – does not. It looks great. So make sure you pick up live action films, or at least ones that try to look live action, since they look the best in 3D. Oh, and stay away from Clash of the Titans in 3D! It was post-processed, and was NOT filmed in 3D and it just looks ridiculous!

You have purchased a wonderful photo printer that can create beautiful images – now you must decide what size image you’d like to print and what size paper to print it on.  The sizing depends on what you intend to do with the finished print. Let’s look at some options – and the trade-offs – for printing images on various paper sizes. Keep in mind that if you plan to sell your images, many customers prefer that the external mat size is a standard picture frame size such as 11×14, 16×20, or 18×24 so they are not forced into a custom frame shop.

13×19 Printer Paper – Framing Options

Aside from roll or special panoramic sheet paper, the largest common paper size is 13×19 inches. The simplest option is to use the entire sheet and print a 13×19 image. If you have an SLR, which normally has an image aspect ratio of 3:2, this is a convenient size because it requires almost no cropping. An un-cropped 3:2 image printed on 13×19 paper will only lose one-half inch of the image. (In other words, the un-cropped image would measure 13×19.5 inches.)

Another excellent image size for 13×19 paper is 12×18. This size creates its own border, which is advantageous because some printers are not able to print full borderless on all papers. The borders on the paper can be used for the artist’s signature, or as a mounting aid utilizing photo corners. (The corners can be concealed with a mat.)

The 13×19 and 12×18 are not standard picture frame sizes. However, some specialty companies such as Frame Destination Inc. do offer inexpensive, ready-made frames in these sizes. These frames are inexpensive for two reasons: They do not contain a mat and they use less expensive non-archival components. Another advantage to these frames is that they typically require no mounting. You simply slip the paper into the frame and you’re done. In the case of the 13×19 picture frame, you don’t even need to trim the paper.

Some photographers prefer using a mat board with their prints. Although mat boards with 12×18 and 13×19 openings are is not readily available, specialty companies like Frame Destination Inc. offer mats with openings in these sizes. An 18×24 standard frame size with mat is ideal for these image sizes. With the 18×24 the 12×18 will have an even three-inch mat border surrounding the image, and the 13×19 will have an even 2.5 inch mat border.

Compact cameras such as Canon PowerShot and the Nikon Coolpix, and SLRs such as the Olympus E-400 use the 4:3 aspect ratio size, which is perfect for 12×16 prints. Although this picture frame size is not nearly as common as 11×14 or 16×20, it is still a standard frame size.

Although a 10×15 print would normally be done on smaller paper, think BIG and print a 10×15 centered image onto 13×19 paper. You get free a white border, and if placed in a 13×19 frame, the result will be a 1.5-inch top and bottom border, and two-inch side border. A 9×15 image can also be printed onto 13×19 paper, and with a little cropping you can achieve an even two-inch border surrounding the image.

Unfortunately, 16×20 is neither a 3:2 nor 4:3 ratio; 16×24 is the 3:2 ratio but can only be printed on 17-inch roll paper.

Standard Matted Frame Size – a picture frame size that uses a picture frame mat. The borders of the mat combined with the image size result in a standard picture frame size. (For example, 12×18 image with three-inch mat border along the top, sides and bottom of the image results in an 18×24 inch picture frame size.)

Aspect ratio – ratio of the width of the image to the height of the image.

I bought three of these canisters in the 1 gallon size and another one in a smaller size. I use them on my countertop for two kinds of flour and two kinds of sugar. I searched all over to find a canister that could hold an entire 5 lb. bag of flour, and the 1 gallon size does. These canisters look lovely on my counter.

I would not have thought it was possible to break these very easily, as they seem to be very thick, but I was removing the lid from one of them, knocked it against the mouth of the canister, and sent tiny shards of glass spraying all over my counter and into my sugar. As it was impossible to tell which were grains of sugar and which were pieces of glass, I had to dump the whole thing. I know this was my mistake and not the fault of the product (it IS glass after all, which I am fully aware of) but just be extra careful not to knock the lid against the jar. I really wish they had plastic or rubber gaskets to make them airtight. I use up my flour and sugar quite quickly, but I can see how it might be an issue for someone who takes more than 2-3 weeks to use a full bag of flour. You could always lay a piece of plastic wrap over the opening before fitting the lid into place to keep things fresh.

I am about to enter my third trimester. As with most pregnant women, my bra size has increased. I was reluctant to purchse new bras since they can be expensive and I didn’t know how long I could wear them with my changing size. Once I couldn’t wear my original bras, I bought one nursing bra that fit at the time and was able to wear it for about 2 months. I reached the point where I needed larger (and more) bras, but again, didn’t want to spend alot of money for bras I could only wear for 2 – 3 more months.

I decided to try the Bravado seamless nursing bra because they advertised that it would work with your changing breast size. I also decided to stay with a nursing bra since I will hopefully be able to use them for the next year after my baby is born, thus getting more value out of them. I tried on several different brands, but the Bravado seamless became my favorite maternity bra for the following reasons:

-Will be able to accomodate me if my breasts increase 1-2 sizes.
-Extremely comfortable
-Looks like a regular bra under cloths – no uniboob look
-The padded inserts are great for colder days
-The snap closer is easier for me to put on than a sports bra type nursing bra
-Holds up well in the wash
-Great support; the band is thick (where all your support comes from) w/o bulkiness
-No underwire to dig into my body

While it is more expensive than other bras I tried, the ability to wear it for a longer period of time and for nursing make this bra a good value IMO. I use the Original Bravado bra on the weekends so I don’t wear this one out, but for work clothes and looking tailored, this is the bra for me.

When I tried cruelty-free Caldrea Dish Soap, Basil Blue Sage, I first noticed the really CLEAN scent. It’s not a heavy perfume, and it doesn’t linger on your rinsed dishes. (I’d also placed an empty bowl that had had seafood soup into the sink. With a drop of the Caldrea Dish Soap, the cat stayed out of the sink!) The soap’s concentration is such that the dish washer doesn’t need a lot of soap to get the job done.

I used the Caldrea Dish Soap as I use any other dish soap: single-use sponge, hot water, by hand. I tried it on metal (flatware and pans), ceramics (dishes), plastic (my thermal coffee mug), and glasses. On all of these, food and grease came right off. I even used it on – seriously – a crystal ball, and there were no streaks or spots when the crystal dried.

Of note: my mom also used the soap. She said that she thought that her leading brand might work better. I’ve used both, and I prefer the scent of the Caldrea Dish Soap, and I thought it worked just as well as the leading brand.

Bottom line: for anyone looking for a good dish soap, the Caldrea may be something you’d like. It’s especially good for anyone looking for a good, cruelty-free brand.

Baby Trend Expedition LX Jogging Stroller Review

I didn’t buy this stroller from Amazon (I wish I would have because I paid almost as much in shipping costs as I did for the stroller itself!) but wanted to write a review for it here anyway. I’m not a “runner” or “jogger” for that matter, but decided to buy a jogging stroller because I enjoy walking and my Combi Flex stroller wobbled terribly over even the slightest uneven surfaces and the sun shade did not cover my baby from sun very well. The Baby Trend Expedition Jogging Stroller glides over any surface and the large adjustable sun shade is very effective in protecting my baby from the sun at any hour of the day. (The large snack tray also provides extra sun-coverage.) I was really surprised, and pleased, that it fit in my trunk (Acura TL) without removing the front wheel. The front wheel swivel feature comes in really handy too. I have had this stroller for almost a year and I haven’t had any problems that I can recall. There are only two (very small) complaints that I have: 1. The seat, and seat back are pretty hard…barely any cushion at all (I bought the stroller when my son was only 6 months old which was a problem then, but not now that he is 18 months.) Extra blankets and a car seat cushion insert from Wal-Mart resolved the issue until my son no longer needed the extra padding. 2. The seatbelt straps are pretty cheap and uncomfortable looking (again, no padding) but work great, so again, no big deal. Overall a great stroller and I would recommend it.

Modern nutritional advice recommends avoiding fried food. Although I am a proponent of Jewish healthy eating, for one week a year I make an exception. Yes, I am referring to Hanukkah (aka Hanukah, Hannuka or Chanuka) or the fried food festival. Hannukah is different to many of the other Jewish festivals in that there are no restrictions on food preparation or cooking during the holiday. It is a holiday when family can get together without the pressure of preparing food in advance; which is a good thing because fried food tastes bests when it is served fresh!

Hannukah is the Jewish festival of lights and celebrates the rededication of the second temple, and the miracle of a small amount of olive oil lasting for 8 days. To commemorate the miracle, candles or oil lamps are lit for 8 days. Every home has a Hannukia and candles are lit each day starting with one on the first night and finishing with 8 candles on the eighth day. Due to the proximity of Hannukah to Christmas, some traditions have been adopted such as decorating the house, and giving large gifts. The main Hanukkah traditions are eating foods that are fried in oil, and playing with a dreidle (4 sided spinning top).

Traditional Hannukah foods include potato latkes and donuts. Latkes, which are not dissimilar to potato rosti, are enjoyed with a variety of condiments ranging from apple sauce and sour cream to cinnamon and sugar. In recent years different latke versions have become popular; sweet potato latkes, zucchini fritters, kohlorabi and carrot rosti, you are only limited by the vegetables you have on hand. Latkes are delicious served fresh – every year after lighting the Hanukkah candles I prepare different latkes, which we enjoy whilst spinning the dreidle. Latkes can also be prepared in advance and reheated, and can be baked for a healthier treat.

The other traditional Hanukkah food is donuts. These are commercially available with an astounding array of wonderful fillings and toppings. If you are lucky you will be able to find small donuts, as a large donut contains at least 300calories and ~16g of fat, which is equivalent to a small healthy meal. Even home made donuts are calorific, but they have the advantage of having been prepared at home with you knowing exactly what ingredients went into them, and they can be made as small (or large) as you like. In addition, you can fill them with whatever you like, and can enjoy them fresh. I usually make donuts with a mixture of whole wheat and white flour, use very little sugar in the dough, low fat milk and fry in canola oil. If I fill them with jam I use no-added sugar 100% fruit jam. Whilst these are not low-fat or healthy, they are better than anything you can find commercially. If you want something even healthier, try baking your donuts instead of frying them, but remember Hannukah is all about the miracle of oil!
